Introducing the MTick: making menopause support easier to find at Pharmacy2U

There are 15.5 million menopausal women in the UK and 1 billion across the world, but menopausal consumers feel overlooked and underserved.

That’s where GenM and the MTick come in.

What is the MTick?

The MTick is the universal symbol to help women shop for menopause-friendly products with confidence, delivered by GenM – the Menopause Partner for Brands.  

It is a certification awarded to products that meet robust criteria to demonstrate effectiveness in supporting one or more of the 48 recognised signs of menopause. These include: 

  • Claims backed by authorised medical, cosmetic, or health claims with robust scientific evidence  

  • Clinical or user trials with menopausal women showing statistically significant results for one or more of the 48 menopause signs 

  • Functionality or materials shown to support a menopause-related need through independent testing 

The MTick exists to bring greater visibility, choice and trust to menopause, helping to improve the lived experience of the millions of women going through perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause. 

What GenM do for menopausal consumers

As the Menopause Partner for Brands, GenM unites brands and retailers as a collective to commit to better understanding, supporting and serving the menopausal consumer.  

GenM exists to raise awareness of menopause, change the rhetoric from ‘fear’ to ‘thrive’, and empower women with trusted product choices to help support with any one of the 48 menopause signs.  

GenM data reports that on average women can only name 3-5 of the menopause signs, leading them to feel blindsided and unprepared when they start experiencing these signs. GenM currently work with over 150 progressive and purposeful brands, including Pharmacy2U, to improve visibility and signposting for menopausal women, leading to a better shopping experience. They are helping these brands change the menopause rhetoric from fear and uncertainty to empowerment and confidence. Only 2% of a diverse range of women feel like they are ‘thriving in menopause’, so GenM work with brands to create clear, menopause-friendly retail experiences both in person and online.

Why MTick certification matters

To raise this awareness and empower menopausal customers, GenM created the MTick. 

The MTick is the universal symbol and certification for menopause-friendly shopping, a game-changing sign that creates a new category in retail. It identifies products that support one or more of the 48 symptoms of menopause, providing a symbol that is clearly visible and trusted by consumers. 

An overwhelming 94% of women want the option to shop menopause-friendly labelled products, with two thirds of customers currently struggling to find the right products to support their menopause. With the MTick, these underserved consumers will be able to see a clear, credible symbol that confirms products are suitable for supporting signs of menopause. 

To achieve the MTick, products must meet a strict, independently verified set of criteria. They must display authorised claims and be credibly tested, ensuring they help customers with one or more of the 48 menopause symptoms.   

GenM are aiming to make the MTick as recognisable and purposeful as the Vegan Trademark or B Corp Certification, bringing menopause the widespread, mainstream visibility that it deserves.
