What’s in your Mounjaro starter kit

Your Mounjaro starter kit includes 1 pre-filled Mounjaro pen containing 4 individual doses, providing you with a 4-week supply of treatment at. You’ll also be issued a supply of single-use, sterile needles to administer Mounjaro along with a sharps bin to safely dispose of your used needles.   

You will find the needles for the Mounjaro pen contained in a separate small white box inside your parcel. The needles are not contained within the main Mounjaro pen box. Please look in your parcel carefully when you open it, to make sure you don’t accidentally throw away separate the white box containing the needles.  

Expiration date 

You may find that, for example, the expiry date on the pen reads 05/25, which means 31 May 2025, not the beginning of May. Each pen dosage lasts 4 weeks.

Priming your pen  

Priming your pen before use is essential for its proper functioning. Prior to using the pen, consult the printed instructions enclosed with it, and carefully follow the step-by-step guidance to ensure accurate priming and medication administration.  

What to look out for  

Carefully inspect your pen for any signs of damage before use. If you suspect it has been damaged, or the liquid medicine in the pen appears cloudy, discoloured, or has particles in it, do not use the pen and contact our Patient Care team.  

Administering Mounjaro  
You can inject in the same body area each week, but make sure it is not in the same spot as used the last time. You may need help from someone else if you want to inject in your upper arm.  

Avoid injecting into areas where the skin is tender, bruised, red, warm, or hard.
