Iron Tablets
Iron contributes to normal energy levels by producing red blood cells and the haemoglobin inside them. Red blood cells carry oxygen around the body from the lungs, which is vital for the functioning of the body’s tissues. A mineral rather than a vitamin, iron can be found in foods and ingredients like red meat, dark green leafy vegetables like spinach and kale, liver, nuts, beans (including edamame beans, kidney beans, and chickpeas), and dried fruit. Women between 19 and 49 require around 14.8mg a day of iron, while women over 50 (due to postmenopausal ceasing of periods) and men over 19 need approximately 9.7mg per day. Women who lose a lot of blood through heavy periods, as well as pregnant women, may be more at risk of iron deficiency anaemia (although this can affect anyone). We stock a wide range of iron tablets, as well as liquid forms.
