Working directly with your GP for a hassle-free service

Registered with a GP in England? Almost all GP surgeries in England are now set up to send prescriptions to pharmacies electronically, so you no longer need to pick up a paper prescription and take it to a nearby pharmacy. Pharmacy2U can dispense and deliver your NHS repeat prescriptions. We’ll communicate with your GP directly, which means one less thing for you to worry about.

How we work with your GP

When you place an order for your medicine through the Pharmacy2U ‘My Account’ area, we let your GP know and ask them to approve your request. If everything’s ok, your doctor will send us an electronic prescription ready for our clinical team to check and dispense before it’s delivered to your chosen address using Royal Mail's Tracked service.

Understanding the EPS

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS initiative first trialled by Pharmacy2U in 2001 before being fully rolled out in 2005. It’s designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of prescriptions for both patients and healthcare providers. It means you have more choice and convenience when it comes to managing your prescriptions. You can choose which pharmacy you’d like your prescriptions sent to. This is known as a ‘nominated pharmacy’. You can opt to collect your repeat prescriptions from a community pharmacy, or have your medicines dispensed and delivered to your home by an online provider like Pharmacy2U. In England, over 95% of prescriptions are now issued and processed using the EPS.

Everything you need to get started

You'll just need to provide your personal details, your GP surgery, what medicine you're prescribed, and your NHS number if you know it.

Great service. With good liaison with my GP. And order always efficiently delivered. So much easier than queueing at the local chemist. I started using Pharmacy2U during the pandemic and no turning back.

  • The help line staff were excellent

The help line staff were excellent, they understood my issue straightaway, told me they would need to speak to a line manager and would get back to me. The same person got back to me later in the day with an answer, issue resolved

  • Losing the monthly stress

Being able to request my prescription from the doctors and knowing that the items I require will be delivered to my door without delay. Originally I would go to the pharmacy after a 5 day wait to find that my prescription was not ready, so thank you for making my life easier.
