Understanding the EPS
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS initiative first trialled by Pharmacy2U in 2001 before being fully rolled out in 2005. It’s designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of prescriptions for both patients and healthcare providers. It means you have more choice and convenience when it comes to managing your prescriptions.
You can choose which pharmacy you’d like your prescriptions sent to. This is known as a ‘nominated pharmacy’. You can opt to collect your repeat prescriptions from a community pharmacy, or have your medicines dispensed and delivered to your home by an online provider like Pharmacy2U. In England, over 95% of prescriptions are now issued and processed using the EPS.
