Prescription Services

Orders and payment

Once an order has been placed, the transaction is processed manually at the premises of Pharmacy2U by our registered pharmacists who are members of the General Pharmaceutical Council. This website should be regarded as an invitation to treat. Any order placed by a customer is an offer to purchase, which Pharmacy2U may accept or decline in its absolute discretion without having to give a reason. A confirmation email is notification that we have received your offer on our website. A contract is deemed to be made at the point of a sale invoice being issued by Pharmacy2U following checking of orders by a pharmacist. We only deliver prescription medication within the UK.

We pass on increases in VAT

If the rate of VAT changes between your order date and the date we supply the product or service, we adjust the rate of VAT that you pay, unless you have already paid in full before the change in the rate of VAT takes effect.

Payment will usually be taken by Pharmacy2U at the time that goods are dispatched (except for payments using PayPal which are debited to the customer account at the time of placing the order). Where a customer payment is subsequently rejected or returned for any reason, the customer will be responsible for providing prompt alternative means of payment. In the event of default, reasonable collection charges and/or solicitors' fees will be added to the customer's account. EU residents pay the VAT inclusive price. Non-EU/exempt residents pay the exclusive price. All NHS Prescription Services provided by Pharmacy2U are provided on a "best endeavours" basis. Requests made electronically from this website will be forwarded to your doctor as soon as possible. By placing your request, you are instructing Pharmacy2U to request and collect your prescription from your GP. In order to ensure safe receipt of any electronic prescription issued in relation to your request, we may re-confirm your pharmacy nomination before this is forwarded to your doctor. Due to the range of third-party networks and innovative technology used for this transmission, we are unable to guarantee a time of arrival of the request at your GP surgery or absolutely guarantee that it will arrive at all. You are responsible for determining and checking if this request has been received.

Pharmacy2U will endeavour to ensure that all Prescription Only Medicines (POM) prices are correct on the website. In some cases, the prices may vary due to manufacturer price increase, product availability and/or special-order requirement. In such cases Pharmacy2U will contact you on receipt of the prescription to inform you of any price difference. We are legally only able to dispense medicines for you when we have received either an electronic prescription which has been digitally signed by a prescribing doctor or alternatively a conventional paper prescription signed in writing by a prescribing doctor. Prescriptions are issued entirely at the discretion of the prescriber.

Free NHS prescriptions

In some situations, patients are automatically entitled to free NHS prescriptions. You can check whether you’re entitled to receive free prescriptions here.

What information do we need?

When registering as a Pharmacy2U patient, we’ll ask whether you pay for your NHS prescriptions. If you’re entitled to free NHS prescriptions, we’ll ask the reason and if applicable when it’s due to expire. We’ll then remind you when your exemption is due to expire.

Pharmacy2U uses the NHS’s Real Time Exemption Checking (RTEC) system to confirm your exemption status. If it cannot confirm your exemption, we’ll use the information provided on your account.

We don’t ask for physical proof of your entitlement but it’s your responsibility to make sure the information we hold is accurate and up to date. You can do this through your online account or by contacting our Customer Care team. Read how to update us here.

The NHS carry out checks on the exemption status of patients. Anyone found to be claiming free prescriptions falsely, could be liable for a penalty fine. By supplying accurate information, you also ensure we don’t charge you incorrectly.

What happens when my exemption from paying NHS prescription charges expires?

If your exemption has expired and you have not updated us with new valid details, we may begin taking payment for prescription charges if you’ve given us your payment details. Without payment details it could delay our dispensing process while we make contact with you.

If you’ve been exempt from paying NHS prescription charges for one of the following reasons, you will need to pay for your prescriptions upon expiry.

  • You have a maternity exemption certificate

  • You are a child under 16 years old

  • You are aged between 16 and 18 and are in full time education

Any account with an expired exemption that holds valid payment details will be charged for their prescriptions.

In other instances we’ll continue to honour your entitlement to free prescriptions, unless informed of a change in circumstances.

Please note, without valid proof of your exemption, the NHS could issue you with a fine for making a false claim.

You can update your details by logging in to your online account or contacting us.

NHS prepayment certificates (PPC)

An NHS prepayment certificate (PPC) can help patients who are prescribed multiple regular medicines save money on their prescriptions. You can learn about and purchase PPCs online here. Having a valid PPC means you’ve already paid. Therefore, we won’t charge you for NHS prescriptions during the period covered by the PPC, and your account will be classed as ‘exempt from paying prescription charges’.

If your circumstances change, it’s still your responsibility to keep us up to date with accurate information.

Family Account (proxy access)

1. Definitions

“Account Holder” means the person who opens or controls a Family Account.

“Family Account” (sometimes called “proxy access” or “care network”) means an online Pharmacy2U account that allows an Account Holder to manage prescription requests and related services for one or more Linked Patients.

“Linked Patient” means an individual whose prescription services are managed through a Family Account.

“Linking Process” means the technical and administrative steps needed to add a Linked Patient to a Family Account, including verification and consent collection.

2. Who may create a Family Account

Only an adult (18 +) who is legally resident in the United Kingdom may act as an Account Holder. By initiating the Linking Process you confirm that you are the person named on the Account or have been expressly instructed by that person to act on their behalf in completing the online steps.

3. Warranties and representations

By linking a Linked Patient you warrant and represent to Pharmacy2U that:

(a) you have obtained the Linked Patient’s explicit and informed consent to the creation of the link, or you hold an alternative lawful authority (for example, parental responsibility, Lasting Power of Attorney for health and welfare, or a court-appointed deputyship);

(b) where the Linked Patient is capable of understanding (typically aged 13 +), they were present or actively involved when you completed the Linking Process, unless they chose not to be;

(c) any information supplied during the Linking Process (for example, date of birth or NHS number) is complete and accurate; and

(d) you will act in the best interests of each Linked Patient when using the Family Account.

4. Continuing obligations of the Account Holder

You must:

keep your login credentials secure and not share them with any unauthorised party;

update or remove a link promptly if circumstances change (for example, if the Linked Patient withdraws consent, attains capacity, or dies); and

inform Pharmacy2U immediately if you suspect any misuse of the Family Account.

5. Unlinking

A Linked Patient (or their lawful representative) may request to be removed from a Family Account at any time. Pharmacy2U will action valid unlinking requests as soon as reasonably possible and usually as soon as possible of identity verification.

6. Limitation of Pharmacy2U’s responsibility

Pharmacy2U relies on the warranties in clause 3 and on the information supplied during the Linking Process. We are not responsible for any loss, damage or claim arising from an Account Holder’s failure to obtain proper consent or authority.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Pharmacy2U harmless against all liabilities, costs, expenses, damages and losses (including reasonable professional costs) suffered or incurred by Pharmacy2U as a result of any breach by you of clause 3 or 4.

8.Automatic communications settings

By default, SMS and push notifications for Linked Patients are set to opt-out. The Account Holder may change these preferences within the Family Account dashboard on behalf of each Linked Patient, provided the Linked Patient’s consent requirements are met.

9. Audit and monitoring

Pharmacy2U retains audit logs of all Family Account activity and may suspend or terminate access if misuse is suspected.

Damaged items

If your prescription medicines appear to be damaged or if the delivery appears to be wrong then please contact  0113 265 0222 or email [email protected]. We will make every effort to replace any damaged products.

Permission to view your NHS Summary Care Record

Your Summary Care Record (SCR) contains information from your health record such as your current prescription details, allergies and any bad reactions to medication you have had in the past. It will also include your name, address, date of birth and your unique NHS Number to help identify you correctly. In providing care to you, Pharmacy2U would like to view your Summary Care Record in order to provide the best possible care for you from the most up to date information available. Whenever your record is accessed, the details will be recorded should you wish to question this at any point in the future. You can change this permission at any point just by contacting us. You can opt-out of having an SCR altogether and you should contact your GP practice who will record this, if this is your preference.

For more information on the Summary Care Record, please visit:

No more than one discount or voucher code may be used for a single order, unless explicitly stated otherwise in the voucher’s specific terms.

By participating in any of our offers or promotions, you confirm that you accept these terms and conditions (the “Promotional Terms”) as well as our general Terms and Conditions. If individual voucher terms state anything different from these Promotional Terms, those individual terms will take precedence.

One voucher code can be used per order. Voucher codes cannot be combined, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Voucher codes may be restricted to specific customer groups (e.g., new or existing customers). Such codes are non-transferable and must only be used under the stated conditions.

We reserve the right to cancel any order that does not comply with the stated terms of the relevant voucher code, without prior notice.

Voucher codes are only valid for UK orders, unless otherwise specified.

All voucher codes will have a clearly stated expiry date. Any code presented without an expiry date is void and will not be honoured.

Delivery costs are excluded from voucher code discounts unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Where a voucher code applies to free or reduced delivery, it usually covers the cheapest available delivery option.

We reserve the right to revoke any offer, discount code, or promotion at any time, without prior notice. This may be necessary due to regulatory requirements, changes in business strategy, or operational considerations.

We are not liable for any claims or complaints arising from the misuse of voucher codes, including the use of expired codes or codes obtained through unauthorised channels.

  • Publishing or promoting this programme on platforms that reference adult content, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, or unregulated health claims related to POMs is strictly prohibited.

  • Sharing your referral link publicly may result in immediate removal from the programme and forfeiture of any rewards.

  • We may withhold or cancel rewards if we believe that the programme has been misused.

  • We can change or end the offer at any time. Any change will not affect referral credits already earned or referrals that have already qualified at the time of the change.

NHS Pharmacy First service

In partnership with PharmSmart Limited (a company registered in England and Wales with number 07757402 and its registered office at Fifth Floor Watson House, 54-60 Baker Street, London, W1U 7BU), we are offering the NHS Pharmacy First Service. This service allows pharmacists to manage episodes of care for patients, potentially eliminating the need for a general practice visit. It includes the supply of appropriate medicines for minor illnesses and contributes to saving up to 10 million general practice appointments annually.

The NHS Pharmacy First Service encompasses three core components:

  • Pharmacy First (Clinical Pathways): A new element allowing management of seven common conditions following specific clinical pathways.

  • Pharmacy First (Urgent Repeat Medicine Supply): Previously part of the Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS).

  • Pharmacy First (NHS Referrals for Minor Illness): Also previously part of the CPCS.

Conditions Covered The service caters to the following conditions, with specified age ranges:

  • Acute Otitis Media*: 1 to 17 years

  • Impetigo: 1 year and over

  • Infected Insect Bites: 1 year and over

  • Shingles: 18 years and over

  • Sinusitis: 12 years and over

  • Sore Throat: 5 years and over

  • Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections: Women 16-64 years

*Note: Distance Selling Pharmacies, including Pharmacy2U, will not conduct consultations for Acute Otitis Media.

Consultations are confidential and involve a comprehensive assessment by the pharmacist. This may include reviewing medical history, allergies, current medications, and symptoms. For certain conditions, a physical examination might be necessary. The pharmacist will recommend a course of action based on individual patient needs. A clinical consultation record will be maintained and shared with the patient’s GP.

Our patients in England have the opportunity to utilise the NHS Pharmacy First Service via video consultations. These consultations are conducted at no charge. However, the provision of any treatment following these consultations is contingent upon a thorough suitability assessment. Please be aware that there may be charges for treatments provided, subject to their availability.

All our pharmacists rigorously adhere to the professional standards and guidelines set by their respective bodies and the NHS for this service. To access the NHS Pharmacy First services, you are required to register with Pharmacy2U and create a secure online patient record. By registering for our NHS Pharmacy First services, you undertake to:

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all information you provide.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of your username and password, taking all necessary precautions to safeguard and refrain from sharing your online patient record login details with any third party.

The service specification, clinical pathways and patient group directions/clinical protocol for this service are all available on the dedicated NHS England website. See Appendix 1 for frequently asked questions about the Pharmacy First service.

Pet Health

Who we are and how to contact us

To contact our Pet Health Team, please email [email protected], or telephone our customer service line on 0113 265 0222.

Veterinary Prescription Only Medication

In order to place a request for a veterinary prescription only medicine (POM-V) you will need a signed prescription from your vet. You will then need to send us that prescription, preferably by post or as an electronic copy which can be sent via email or by using our prescription upload functionality on the website.

Until we receive this we will be unable to dispatch the medication to you. Failure to send the copy of the prescription to us within 30 days will result in the order being cancelled. We will of course refund you for the order, but may charge you for any expenses that we incur.

In some instances, we may contact the veterinary practice to validate the prescription if required.

There are some examples (e.g. Controlled Drugs) where we will insist on receiving the physical original prescription before we can dispatch the medication to you. In this instance the prescription will need to be posted to us. In the case of controlled drugs this is a legal requirement to comply with the veterinary medicine regulations, in line with the Misuse of Drugs act 1971.

Amending, tampering or hiding any information on a prescription can be deemed as fraud. If we have any suspicion that this has been attempted, then we will inform yourself and contact the veterinary practice for clarification. If the suspicion is confirmed we will cancel your order, and report the incident to the Veterinary Medicines Directorate for further investigation. Where fraud is suspected we may also inform the police if deemed necessary.

In the occurrence of an alleged prescription amendment we will invoke a charge of £30 to cover administrative time taken. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree to this and for the money to be taken by the payment method used to place the original prescription.

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree to read the manufacturers data sheet and/or patient information leaflet and that you will use the product as per the guidance provided - confirming it is suitable for your animal (e.g. Species, weight, age, indication).

If you are unsure if the product is the correct one for your animal please contact your veterinary surgeon.

Pet Profiles

Here at P2U the safe and accurate supply of medication to you for your pet is critical for us. In order to help us do this we will require information about your pet. We capture this information via a Pet Profile that we require you to fill in for every pet you request POM-V, POM-VPS and NFA-VPS medication for.

It is imperative that this information is up to date and accurate and that all required fields are filled in, to allow us to make the right decision for you.

If the information you submit to us is not accurate or up to date we accept no responsibility or liability for any direct or indirect loss, damage or injury to your pet, you or a third party.

When required we may contact you and/or your veterinary surgeon directly if we require any further information regarding your pet before we can dispatch your order.

Orders, Payment and Pricing

When you place an order with us, you are requesting to make a purchase of our product(s) and/or services. Upon successful order placement you will receive a confirmation email with a unique order reference number. It is this number you should quote to us should you have any specific queries relating to it.

Your order is not accepted until we have dispatched the order to you and you have received confirmation of that dispatch.

There may be occasions when we do not have the product you ordered in our warehouse or at our P2U partner warehouse. We receive daily orders from our supplier and so as long as the item is in stock at their warehouse we aim to receive it the day after we place the order with our supplier (Friday and weekend orders arrive on Monday). However, if we are unable to obtain your product we will contact you directly to discuss your options.

All prices seen are inclusive of VAT but do not include delivery fees. Delivery fees will be clearly shown during the checkout process (Please see our delivery policy for further information).

We require payment by either debit or credit card immediately when the order is placed and will not dispatch until the payment has cleared and received by us.

We always endeavor to ensure that our pricing is accurate. However unfortunately this will not always be the case. In the occurrence of us identifying an incorrect price following your order, we will do our best to honour the order at the stated price. However, if this is not possible we will contact you directly to inform you of the correct price and give you the option to either continue with the order or to cancel it.

Products

We only supply medication that is fully licensed in the UK and that has been supplied either directly from the manufacturer or via an authorised licensed UK wholesaler.

The images on our website are for illustrative purposes only and may vary to the product you receive in terms of packaging.

We may require you to provide us with further information in respect of your animal prior to completing your order. Certain licensed POM-VPS and NFA-VPS products require this information to be provided before they can be sold to you to ensure you are ordering the correct product for your animal. You will not be able to proceed with your order until this additional information has been provided to us.

You may cancel your contract and/or return your order to us, by contacting us by email or telephone, when:

The refund will be issued once we have received the product back from you.

Pricing Error

You can cancel your contract (order) if we have told you about a pricing error that we are unable to honour, and you do not wish to continue with the order. In this instance we will not dispatch the product to you.

Change of Mind

As an online retailer you have a legal right to change your mind within 14 days of receiving the product and cancel your contract with us.

For any change of mind cancellations you will be required to cover the cost of the return to us. Once the product has been returned we will issue you with a full refund. The product must be returned in full working order with no damage or signs of use in order for the refund to be processed.

Your right of cancellation due to change of mind however does not apply for any medicinal use products including prescription only medication, wormers and flea tablets. We are unable to accept returns for any of these products.

However, if an error has been made by us or the medicinal product is damaged or faulty. In this instance we must be informed of the error/fault within 7 days of you receiving the product and the product must be received back to us within 28 days - we will then either offer you a full refund for the product, or resend a new product to you.

Where we are required to make a refund we will do so within 14 days of receiving the product back from you.

Any products that are returned and are not in good working order, or show signs of use, will have an appropriate fee taken off the refund before being made.

Non-Delivery

After 10 days of receiving your dispatch email if your product remains undelivered please contact your local delivery office to see if your order is awaiting collection from there.

If your order is not there please contact us so we can investigate and discuss your options with you.

For more information please refer to our Returns and Delivery section.

3. Returning your items

You cannot return the following unless they are damaged or faulty.

Goods which have been mixed after delivery and cannot be separated

Custom-made or personalised items

Perishable items (that is, items that naturally deteriorate)

Items with a protective seal that has been broken or removed (due to health-protection or hygiene reasons)

Medicines or services provided on prescription

Please note, this does not affect your legal rights. You have the same rights as any consumer under The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (and any amendments to it), the Sale and Supply of Goods and Services Regulations 2002, and any other consumer laws that might apply to contracts.

4. Where do I send returns?

Once you've told our Customer Care team about returning your items, please post them to:

Pharmacy2U

Unit 3 Mountpark Bardon,

Robson Way,

Coalville,

Leicestershire,

LE67 1GQ,

United Kingdom

Unfortunately, we cannot pay the costs of returning your items, and will not be liable for any damages caused in the post. These terms do not apply to faulty or damaged goods.

Make sure that any items you return are securely packaged. We recommend you send all returned items by ‘Signed for’ or ‘Tracked’ delivery.

5. How long will it take to process my refund?

We aim to process your refund within 3-5 days of receiving the returned goods. However, it can take up to 14 days for you to receive the refund, which will be made by the payment method you used to pay for the goods. Once you've told our Customer Care team that you are returning the goods, you have a legal duty to keep them in a good condition and return them at your expense.

We can deduct an amount from the refund to reflect any loss of value of the goods. This deduction may be equal to the full cost of the goods if the loss in value is the result of unnecessary handling by you. The extent to which you can handle goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop before buying them.

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation & Additional Charges) Regulations 2014, we will refund the full amount you paid for the goods, including the basic delivery charge, within 14 days of you telling our Customer Care team about the return or providing proof that you have returned the goods, whichever is earlier.
