Precautions to consider before using Pepto Bismol 12 Chewable Tablets

Do not take if you are under 16 years of age due to a potential link between salicylates and Reye's syndrome, a very rare but serious condition.
Do not use if you are allergic to bismuth subsalicylate, salicylates including aspirin or any of the other ingredients.
Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a stomach ulcer, blood clotting disorders or bloody or black stool.
Seek medical advice if you have fever, mucus in your stools, blood clotting disorder or gout; or if you are taking medication for thinning the blood (anticoagulants), diabetes, gout, arthritis (methotrexate), or tetracycline antibiotics.
