What is Epiduo?
Epiduo gel, a topical acne treatment, comprises two active ingredients, adapalene and benzoyl peroxide. This treatment is highly effective for individuals experiencing facial acne. The dual action of these ingredients addresses acne concerns comprehensively, combating both the acne-causing bacteria on the skin and the inflammation that may result from blocked and infected pores.
What is Epiduo used to treat?
Epiduo, the combination of adapalene and benzoyl peroxide, is used to effectively treat acne.
Adapalene functions by minimising pore blockages and inflammation on the skin, while benzoyl peroxide eliminates acne-causing bacteria. Additionally, it aids in softening and peeling dead skin, preventing blockages, and discouraging the emergence of new spots.
Who can and cannot use Epiduo?
Patients aged 18 to 65 can access Epiduo through our Online Doctor service. It's most effective for mild acne with blackheads and whiteheads.
If you're pregnant or are trying to get pregnant, you should avoid Epiduo.
It's safe for breastfeeding but avoid applying it to the chest area.
Epiduo should not be used on eczema, cuts, grazes, or sunburnt skin. It should not be used simultaneously with drying or peeling cosmetic products.
What should I do if my skin reacts to Epiduo?
If you experience persistent skin irritation during the first weeks when using Epiduo gel, contact your doctor. You may be asked to apply a moisturiser, to use the gel less often, to stop using it for a short time, or to stop using the gel altogether.
