SECTION_START: Description Dalacin is a vaginal cream containing clindamycin, an antibiotic. It is inserted directly into the vagina and effectively targets the bacteria responsible for causing bacterial vaginosis (BV). Dalacin Cream is specifically designed to address conditions such as bacterial vaginosis (BV), effectively eliminating the bacteria that lead to symptoms like a fishy odour and abnormal vaginal discharge.

<li>Wash your hands thoroughly with water and soap before using the applicator.</li>
<li>Remove the cap from the tube of cream.</li>
<li>Attach the open end of the applicator to the tube and carefully squeeze from the bottom of the tube to fill the applicator with cream.</li>
<li>Unscrew the applicator and replace the cap on the tube.Lie on your back and hold the filled applicator tightly.Gently insert it into your vagina as far as comfortable.</li>
<li>While still holding the barrel, slowly push the plunger until it stops, ensuring all the cream is released Carefully remove the applicator from your vagina and dispose of it.</li>
<li>Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the cream.</li>
<li>If you accidentally use too much Dalacin Cream, or if someone swallows it, contact your doctor immediately for guidance.</li>
<li>If you forget to use the cream but remember within a few hours, apply it as soon as possible.</li>
<li>If it's close to your next scheduled application, skip the missed one and continue with your usual dosing schedule.</li>
<li>Do not double the dose.</li>
<li>Even if you start feeling better, continue using the cream until you finish the prescribed course.</li>

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Tell your doctor immediately if you: &bull; Develop severe, persistent or bloody diarrhoea (which may be associated with stomach pain or fever). This is an uncommon side effect which may occur after treatment with antibiotics and can be a sign of serious bowel inflammation (pseudomembranous colitis) &bull; Experience an allergic reaction or skin reaction, such as hives or a rash, which is flat and raised bumps in tight clusters, giving the skin a splotchy appearance.
Very common side effects (affecting more than 1 in every 10 patients): &bull; Vaginal thrush (a yeast infection that causes soreness and itching around the vulva and vagina).
Common side effects (affecting less than 1 in every 10 patients): &bull; Fungal infection (candida), can cause red, itchy rashes &bull; Headache, dizziness &bull; Change to the sense of taste &bull; Cough, cold, sore throat &bull; Stomach-ache &bull; Difficulty or delay emptying bowels &bull; Diarrhoea &bull; Feeling sick (nausea) &bull; Vomiting &bull; Itchy skin &bull; Rash &bull; Back pain &bull; Urinary tract infection: bacterial infection of the urinary system. Symptoms may include pain or burning while passing urine, needing to pass urine suddenly or more urgently than usual, needing to pass urine more often than usual during the night, urine looking cloudy, having a strong smell or blood in urine, lower tummy pain, back pain or pain under ribs &bull; Increased levels of sugar and protein in the urine. Signs may include urinary infections, foamy or frothy appearance of urine &bull; Abnormal labour &bull; Vaginal pain and swelling &bull; Abnormal bleeding, pain, or stress during your period (menstrual disorder) &bull; Vaginal discharge.
Uncommon (affecting less than 1 in every 100 patients): &bull; Bacterial infection &bull; Over-reaction of immune system (hypersensitivity) &bull; A sensation of whirling and loss of balance &bull; Nosebleed &bull; Upset stomach &bull; Bad breath &bull; Passing wind &bull; Reddening of the skin &bull; A nettle-like rash, hives &bull; Painful urination &bull; Vaginal infection &bull; Pelvic pain &bull; Abnormal laboratory test results.
Frequency not known, but may also occur: &bull; White discharge or patches, usually within folds of skin, with itching, irritation and sometimes soreness (Fungal infection (&lsquo;candida&rsquo;) of skin) &bull; Overactive thyroid gland, which can cause increased appetite, weight loss or sweating &bull; Bowel disorders &bull; Inflammation of the lining of the large intestine causing severe diarrhoea with blood in stools (pseudomembranous colitis) &bull; Indigestion &bull; Rash with red spots &bull; Pain in women&rsquo;s lower tummy or back, usually worse during a period (endometriosis) &bull; Body pain &bull; Swelling.
