An app-based answer to the government’s 10-year plan, which calls for digital health services, delivered in the community, focused on prevention over cure
Pharmacy2U unveils a transformative new digital health and wellbeing hub, bringing together pharmacy, online GP consultations, NHS, vet, health and wellbeing services into a single platform and app.
Already at #2 in the App Store, the new health destination aims to give patients, and those they care for, better control of their health. It addresses all three of the stated priorities in the government’s 10-year plan for the NHS: a move from analogue to digital, hospital to primary care; and cure to prevention.
Pharmacy2U is the UK’s largest digital pharmacy, with more than 1.5 million customers. Its investments in industry-leading clinical care and automated dispensing technology are transforming the way primary care is delivered in the UK, with an increasing focus on digital-first preventative healthcare pathways.
Kevin Heath, Pharmacy2U CEO, says “The provision of healthcare in the UK is world leading, but often fragmented. Accessing it can be a confusing experience for patients. Our goal is to put patients back in control of their health, and developing one single, streamlined platform to take the pain out of the process is our answer.”
The new platform puts NHS Services, GP online consultations, prescriptions, pet health, and much more, in the palm of the hand, promising to improve access to diagnosis and treatment for those preferring to do as much of this as possible online.
New features include the ability to track orders, appointments, and deliveries in the same place and the ability to check the availability of medicines is also coming soon, A single platform also makes it easier for pharmacists and doctors to recommend products and services that can improve overall health and wellbeing, helping to reduce the chances of future illness.
“Technology is the answer to so many of the challenges we face today, but it needs to be developed and deployed with human needs at heart”, continued Kevin. “The government has clearly indicated that it wants to shift the focus of healthcare from hospital to community, treatment to prevention, and analogue to digital, and I’m pleased that we’re able to contribute to all three of those goals with this new app.”
With patients, healthcare providers and the government all searching for ways to make healthcare more simple, accessible and effective, this development marks a significant step in the right direction.
