Benefits of the pharmacy and surgery finder tool
This pharmacy and surgery finder tool takes real-time data from NHS England to keep you up to date about the location and details of your nearest pharmacies and GP surgeries. The tool provides you with benefits including:
Live, up-to-date information about your nearest pharmacies and GP surgeries
Reliable addresses, contact details, and opening times
Information about the distance from your postcode
Useful tags highlighting whether GP surgeries are accepting new patients or out of area registrations
How to use the tool
Using the surgery and pharmacy finder tool is simple. Just select whether you’re looking for pharmacies or GP surgeries from the dropdown, then enter your postcode, or the postcode where you want to search.
You can then toggle between map view, where you simply click on the surgery or pharmacy you want to find out about, and list view. As well as the information you need, the pharmacies and surgeries also include links to their websites.
Information about NHS pharmacy and GP surgery services
You can use NHS pharmacies to get advice on a range of minor conditions, such as aches and pains, colds, coughs, ear infections, sore throats, and other similar symptoms. They may refer you to a GP or other health professional if they cannot help you. You can find out more about NHS pharmacies here.
Pharmacists can also answer questions about medicine, from how to use or take it to possible side effects. At Pharmacy2U, we also offer a New Medicine Service, which serves a similar purpose for any new medicine you’re taking, where a pharmacist will answer any questions you might have.
Once you are registered with a local GP surgery, you can book appointments with your GP to discuss symptoms that a pharmacist may not be able to help you with. Your GP can provide advice, issue you with a prescription (which you can then fulfil at a pharmacy or online with the Pharmacy2U NHS prescription service), or refer you to a specialist if needed. The tool on this page lets you know whether a GP surgery is accepting new patients.
