Pharmacy2U launches Pharmacy First Common Conditions Service
Pharmacy2U has today become one of the first pharmacies to offer the new NHS Pharmacy First service, which empowers pharmacies to tackle a set of common conditions for patients. The service will help patients access quicker and more convenient care and is expected to relieve GPs of up to 10 million appointments a year*.
Kevin Heath, CEO at Pharmacy2U says:
“Today is a big day. We are delighted to be joining our fellow pharmacists in launching the NHS Common Condition service as part of the Pharmacy First programme. This initiative, which we support fully, will play a major role in providing patients easy and direct access to pharmacists, to discuss and treat a number of common conditions. We know our patients will value the convenience and privacy of this new service.
As the UK’s leading digital pharmacy, currently helping over 800,000 patients with their NHS repeat prescriptions, we continue our proud relationship with the NHS and providing digital access to much needed health services to patients across England
Pharmacy2U is one of 10,000 pharmacies that will now be able to diagnose and treat a range of common conditions including
Impetigo
Infected insect bites
Shingles
Sinusitis
Sore throats
UTIs
Patients with these conditions should now consult a pharmacist, instead of a GP, if they suspect they are suffering from one of these conditions to be seen faster.
Patients will be asked a few short questions to ensure the service is right for them before booking an appointment for a video call where they can speak to a trained pharmacist about the most suitable treatment for their condition. In the case that the patients are prescribed medicine or need specific treatment, Pharmacy2U will deliver it for free using Royal Mail’s tracked 24-hour service – meaning the medication will arrive with patients the following day.
By using this service, patients will receive care and advice from the comfort and privacy of their own homes.
They simply need to visit https://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk/ to book their appointment, available from 1st February 2024.
