How do I use Dalacin T?
Dalacin T solution is usually applied to the affected area twice a day, after washing. The medicine comes in a bottle, with a pad on the top of the bottle that makes it easy to apply the liquid to the skin. As long as you are happy with Dalacin-T solution, the treatment should last for at least six months. However, after that time, it should not be continued for longer than is necessary. Your doctor can help you to decide when would be a good time to stop using it, should you find you need further help.
It can irritate the eyes and so should be used carefully on this part of the face, and around the mouth too as it has an unpleasant taste. Keep it away from flames and don't use it while you are smoking, as the liquid in the bottle is flammable.
Is Dalacin T suitable for me?
There are some situations where Dalacin T solution should be used with caution or would not be recommended, for example, in patients who have a history of inflammatory bowel disease, or a history of bowel problems related to antibiotics. It is not usually used at the same time as any other treatments for acne. If it doesn't work for you, talk to your doctor as a different acne treatment might be better.
Tell the doctor if you are taking any other medicines, either from your doctor or purchased from a pharmacy. Dalacin T solution may not be suitable or may need to be used with caution if you are taking some medicines, such as other treatments or creams for acne, especially ones containing benzoyl peroxide. It will not be suitable if you are allergic to clindamycin or other tetracycline antibiotics, or any of the other ingredients.
What are the side effects of Dalacin T?
Like all medicines, Dalacin T solution can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. Side effects that are considered to be common include skin dryness and irritation, itching, or skin oiliness. Less commonly, stomach upsets have been reported. In rare cases, you may experience bad diarrhoea, or diarrhoea containing blood - if this happens you should stop using Dalacin T immediately and talk to your doctor, because it might be a sign of a bowel inflammation.
