Frequently asked questions

Before you register

It’s completely free to use our service. We cover the cost of delivery, and your prescription will be sent using Royal Mail's Tracked service. You’ll only pay the standard NHS prescription fee (9.90 per item as of 1st May 2024) if you pay for your prescriptions.

Yes you can. You can add details of your payment exemption in your online account. You’ll also be able to add details of your prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) if you have one.

There is no extra cost to you or the NHS than visiting your local pharmacy. All our NHS prescriptions are delivered for free. If you are exempt or have a prepayment certificate, you won’t be charged for your prescription. If you pay for NHS prescriptions, you’ll just pay the standard NHS charge.

Some surgeries may not allow any third party or pharmacy to order prescriptions on behalf of their patients. Please call us on 0113 265 0222 to check this for you, but if this is the case - don’t worry. We’ll still remind you when you need to order your prescription. Simply order as normal and your doctor will send us your prescription electronically. We’ll deliver your medicines to you, for free to your chosen address.

You can leave Pharmacy2U at any time. If you decide we’re not for you then ask your preferred pharmacy to become your chosen pharmacy or what is sometimes referred to as your "nominated pharmacy". Alternatively give us a call on 0113 265 0222 and we’ll be happy to help.

We’ll ask you to confirm what medicine you need and when you’ll need it. We’ll arrange for your usual GP to approve your prescription. Once approved, your prescription will be sent to our team of pharmacists. They’ll check and dispense your medicine before posting it you by Royal Mail for free.

Placing your order

We ask for 10 working days to process your request and receive approval from your GP before dispensing and delivering your prescriptions. This allows us to account for any delays or stock shortages and means we can get your medicines to you in plenty of time. What’s great about our service is that you can use your account to set handy reminders to notify you when it’s time to order again. This way we can make sure you don’t run out of the medicines you need.

Visit our help and support pages to get help 24/7. Alternatively, speak to us through live chat or give us a call on 0113 265 0222. The team is available 9am to 8pm each weekday, and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.

You will be asked to set up a reminder when you order your first prescription. You can always change how often you receive reminders and how we send them to you within your account dashboard. You have the option of email, SMS, push notification, or a combination of all three.

Delivery of your prescriptions

We generally deliver repeat prescriptions within 5 working days. However, we recommend ordering your prescription 10 days before you need it. This gives enough time for your GP to approve it, our pharmacists to check it and Royal Mail to deliver it to you. You can track your item from dispatch to delivery, and Royal Mail will text you a 2-hour delivery window on the day it's due to arrive.

Yes it is. Delivery for our NHS repeat prescription service is always free of charge.

We can deliver to any address - your home, your place of work, to a carer or neighbour. You can choose a safe place if you are not home to accept delivery or if they still can’t deliver, a card will be left so you can arrange re-delivery for free.

Yes. Log-in and click on Your Account then Delivery to change your delivery address. It doesn’t have to be your home address - it can be a delivery address of your choice such as a friend's, family member's, or work address.
