Regaine Hair Loss Treatment

Regaine (also known as Minoxidil) is a medicine which has been licensed for the treatment of male pattern baldness (or androgenetic alopecia) to increase hair growth and prevent the loss of more hair.

Regaine is the only over-the-counter treatment in the UK that has been clinically proven to help prevent further hereditary hair loss, showing success in 80% of men. For some people, Regaine even reverses the process of hair loss, actually resulting in re-growth of hair. Regaine contains the active ingredient Minoxidil and should be applied to the scalp twice a day.

In a 48 week clinical trial of Regaine Extra Strength for Men, almost two-thirds of the patients experienced increased scalp coverage. Of these patients, around 35% experienced moderate or dense re-growth of hair. As a result of the clinical trial, stabilisation of hair loss (expressed both as re-growth of hair and no continuation of hair loss) can be expected in around 80% of patients that use Regaine for Men Extra Strength.

Regaine has been shown to be safe for most patients and has limited side effects. This is why it is available without a prescription in the UK. Regaine for Men is licensed for use in males between the ages of 18 and 65. Regaine for Women is licensed for use in females between the ages of 18 and 65.
