Canesten
Canesten products are based around the active ingredient clotrimazole, which kills fungi and yeasts through disruption of their cell membranes. It works by stopping the fungi from effectively creating a key component of cell membranes in fungi, thus leading to the formation of holes in their cell membranes. This causes essential parts of fungal cells to leak out, thus killing the fungi and treating the infection.
Canestenis used to treat infections like ringworm, athlete's foot and jock itch and yeast infections such as candida, fungal nappy rash or sweat rash. It is particularly useful for treating infections affecting large or hairy areas of skin and can also be used to treat fungal infections affecting the outer or middle ear.
Thrush
Thrush is an infection caused by a yeast of which lives in your body without any harm, however when the pH balance in your vagina becomes upset, the yeast (Candida) multiplies and this is when the itch starts and develops in to thrush.
3 out of 4 women will get thrush throughout their lives and it especially common when you are pregnant. Thrush also occurs when you are on antibiotics, sexual activity, stress, using perfumed soap, wearing tight clothes or during menstruation.

Canesten product range also includes creams etc which can be used to treat the following conditions-
• Cystitis - inflammation of the linning of the bladder and the most common symptoms are sharp burning/stinging sensation when you pass water or the urge to pass water more often.
• Athletes Foot - an infection of the skin which occurs between you toes. The most common symptom is itching between your toes which may lead to flaky skin, cracked skin and become painful.
• Sweat Rash - this is mainly caused by trapped perspiration in the skin and often leaves an irritating, itchy and red rash which is uncomfortable and tender to touch.
