What is Tetralysal 300?
Tetralysal 300 capsules contain 408mg of lymecycline (equivalent to 300mg tetracycline base) per capsule. This is a tetracycline antibiotic, however it is not related to penicillin. Tetralysal 300 capsules are prescribed by doctors to treat acne, and other types of infection.
How does Tetralysal 300 work?
Like all antibiotics for acne, Tetralysal 300 capsules can take several weeks before you would be expected to see any benefits. It's recommended that they are taken for at least 8 weeks. If you can see no improvements after 3 months, you should discuss this with the doctor so that the treatment can be reviewed.

How to take Tetralysal 300?
The usual dose of Tetralysal 300 capsules is one capsule, once daily. They should be taken with plenty of fluid, while sitting or standing up, to prevent irritation of the oesophagus and can be taken before, with, or after meals; whichever is most convenient for you.
Is Tetralysal 300 suitable for me?
There are some situations where Tetralysal 300 capsules should be used with caution or would not be recommended, for example in patients who have kidney problems, or in pregnant or breast feeding women.
If Tetralysal 300 doesn't work for you, talk to your doctor as a different acne treatment might be better.
If you are a woman who takes an oral contraceptive pill, the effectiveness of the pill may be reduced if you take a course of Tetralysal 300 capsules at the same time.
Tell the doctor if you are taking any other medicines, either from your doctor or purchased from a pharmacy. Tetralysal 300 capsules may not be suitable or may need to be used with caution if you are taking some medicines, such as anticoagulants (medicines to thin the blood), other oral medicines for acne, or diuretics (water tablets). It will not be suitable if you are allergic to lymecycline or other tetracycline antibiotics, or any of the other ingredients.
Some common over-the-counter medicines, especially those for indigestion or heartburn, can make Tetralysal 300 capsules less effective by preventing it being absorbed by the stomach. You can still take indigestion remedies while you are taking a course of Tetralysal 300 capsules, but it's best to separate the two medicines by at least two hours.
They should not be taken by children under the age of 12.
What are the side effects of Tetralysal 300?
Like all medicines, Tetralysal 300 capsules can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects that are considered to be common include stomach upsets, nausea, diarrhoea, and headaches; less commonly reported side effects include skin rashes, itchiness, or sensitivity to sunlight, fever, teeth discolouration, and visual disturbances.
