Dr Alexandra Phelan Joins Pharmacy2u Online Doctor Service

Dr Alexandra Phelan is the latest GP to join the Pharmacy2U Online Doctor Service. With a particular interest in women’s reproductive and sexual health, and also mental health, Dr Phelan, 30, says she is enthusiastic about the way that technology can enable people to seek support in new ways.

She said: “The Pharmacy2U Online Doctor Service is perfect for people who might be concerned about a health problem that they would be too embarrassed to talk to their own GP about. “An online consultation with one of the Pharmacy2U Doctors could also be more convenient for patients who struggle to visit their local GP practice due to work and family commitments, and other time constraints. “I am really excited to be joining a service which can provide a solution to people’s very pressing and personal health concerns.”

Originally from London, Dr Phelan completed her secondary education in North Wales and graduated from Newcastle University Medical School in 2008. She gained extensive experience in a busy district general hospital before choosing to work in General Practice. She is now available for Pharmacy2u Online Doctor consultations alongside her work as an NHS GP in North Wales.

She first became interested in a career in medicine after her grandfather died from pancreatic cancer when she was a teenager. “I was very close to him and I was devastated by what happened,” she explains. Dr Phelan has a keen interest in technology and its use in General Practice. She believes medical journalism through online platforms can play a role in providing accurate and accessible information.

In her free time, she enjoys equine sports, training her own horses in both dressage and eventing.
