SECTION_START: Description Tadalafil is a prescription medication for erectile dysfunction. It is a type of medication known as a PDE-5 inhibitor, and helps men to get an erection when they are unable to naturally. Tadalafil works in the same way as Cialis, but can be manufactured by any pharmaceutical company. This means that Tadalafil is usually available at a lower price than Cialis. which is also used to treat erectile dysfunction.

SECTION_START: Directions Tadalafil comes as 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg tablets.
Dose for erectile dysfunction: The usual dose of Tadalafil for erectile dysfunction is 2.5 mg when you need it. Do not take more than 1 tablet a day.
Your doctor may increase or decrease your dose, depending on how well it works and how often you take it.
The effects may last longer than 24 hours, so you're not recommended to take the 10 mg or 20 mg tablets every day.
For the tablet to work properly, you'll need to be sexually excited.
How to take it: Swallow your tablets whole with a drink of water or juice (but not grapefruit juice).
For erectile dysfunction, take 1 tablet at least 30 minutes before you want to have sex.
If you take too much: Taking too much Tadalafil can cause side effects, including:
Headache Dizziness Indigestion Stuffy nose Changes to your vision (such as blurred vision) You take more than your prescribed dose of Tadalafil Go to 111.nhs.uk or call 111
If you need to go to A&amp;E, do not drive yourself. Get someone else to drive you or call for an ambulance.
Take the Tadalafil packet, or the leaflet inside it, plus any remaining medicine with you.

As with all medications, this drug may cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. These effects are typically mild to moderate.
If you experience any of the following side effects, discontinue use and seek medical attention immediately:
Allergic reactions, including rashes (uncommon). Chest pain - do not use nitrates but seek immediate medical assistance (uncommon). Priapism, a prolonged and possibly painful erection after taking Tadalafil (rare). If you have such an erection lasting continuously for more than 4 hours, contact a doctor immediately. Sudden loss of vision (rare). Other reported side effects include:

SECTION_START: Ingredients What Tadalafil contains - The active substance is tadalafil. Each 10 mg tablet contains 10 mg of tadalafil. Each 20 mg tablet contains 20 mg of tadalafil. The other ingredients may vary depending on the manufacturer of the tablet.

SECTION_START: FAQ Does Tadalafil help with an enlarged prostate?&nbsp; Tadalafil is also used by men who have benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Men who have this condition have difficulty urinating, with a decreased flow, amongst other symptoms. Tadalafil reduces these symptoms and reduces the need for prostate surgery.
Side effects of Tadalafil Side effects are uncommon but can include headaches, indigestion, palpitations (racing heartbeat), light-headedness, facial flushing, nasal congestion and muscle aches. These side effects should not last more than a few hours after taking a dose of Tadalafil.
Tadalafil's long-term side effects are rare. Heart problems have been reported by some men. However, many of these men had heart issues before taking their medication. It&rsquo;s important to let our clinicians know of any medical conditions or medication during your consultation.
Can Tadalafil pills be split? Splitting Tadalafil tablets is not recommended. You should take Tadalafil tablets in the dosage suggested by your clinician or as explained in the patient information leaflet.
Is Tadalafil stronger than Viagra? One medication is not &lsquo;stronger&rsquo; than the other; they just work differently and over a different period of time to manage ED.
Why is Tadalafil known as the 'weekend' pill? You might hear or see people referring to Tadalafil as the &lsquo;weekend&rsquo; pill. This is because the effects of Tadalafil can last up to 36 hours, giving you help with getting an erection across a 2.5-day period. Taken on a Friday afternoon/evening, the medication could take effect for the whole weekend, hence the nickname Tadalafil weekend pill.
Drug interactions with Tadalafil You will be unsuitable for Tadalafil if you are taking alpha-blockers (such as doxazosin or tamsulosin), nicorandil or nitrates, such as GTN spray or isosorbide mononitrate tablets to treat angina.
It is important that you let us know which prescription, over-the-counter medicines and recreational drugs you are taking so that we can prescribe Tadalafil safely.
Alternative treatments to Tadalafil Some men find counselling helpful as a means of exploring and treating psychological causes for ED.
