Amount of cream:&nbsp; The quantity depends on the affected area size. Generally, use about 2.5 cm (0.5 g) for the whole face. Adjust for other areas like the back or chest.
How to apply: Cleanse: Wash the affected area with plain water or mild cleanser and dry thoroughly. Application: Gently rub the recommended amount of Skinoren Cream onto the affected area. Hygiene: Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.

SECTION_START: Warnings Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Reasons to stop using Skinoren Stop using Skinoren and see your doctor as soon as possible if you think you are having an allergic reaction (e.g. rash) to Skinoren. Occasionally, local skin irritation occurs with Skinoren, usually at the start of treatment. In most cases, the irritation is mild and usually gets better as treatment continues.&nbsp; If skin irritation remains troublesome: &bull; Reduce the amount of Skinoren you apply each time &bull; Or apply it only once a day &bull; Or stop treatment temporarily. If skin irritation still remains troublesome, tell your doctor. The following side effects are based on reports from clinical studies and post marketing surveillance with Skinoren, starting with the most frequent ones: Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people):&nbsp; &bull; Burning, itching or abnormal redness of the skin (erythema) at the site of application. Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):&nbsp; &bull; Scaling &bull; Pain &bull; Dryness &bull; Skin discolouration or irritation at the site of application. Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):&nbsp; &bull; Greasy skin &bull; Acne or loss of skin colour &bull; Tingling &bull; Dermatitis &bull; Discomfort or swelling at the site of application. Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):&nbsp; &bull; Cracking of the lips &bull; Vesicles (small blisters) &bull; Eczema &bull; Ulceration &bull; Warmth at the site of the application &bull; Allergic reaction &bull; Rash at the site of the application. Not Known (cannot be estimated from the available data): &bull; Skin swelling &bull; Eye swelling &bull; Swelling face (which may occur with hypersensitivity) &bull; Rash &bull; Urticaria &bull; Worsening of asthma. These additional side effects have been reported in patients using Skinoren (frequency unknown) since marketing approval. SECTION_START: Ingredients The active substance is azelaic acid. One gram of Skinoren Cream contains 200 mg (20% w/w) of azelaic acid. The other ingredients are: Benzoic acid (E210), cetearyl octanoate + isopropyl myristate (PCL Liquid&reg;), glycerol 85%, propylene glycol, purified water, stearoyl macrogolglycerides, glycerol monostearate 40-55, cetostearyl alcohol.

SECTION_START: FAQs What is Skinoren cream used for? Skinoren 15% cream is a topical treatment for mild to moderate acne. It contains azelaic acid, which reduces the growth of keratin surface skin cells and kills bacteria that cause acne.
How quickly does Skinoren cream work? The effectiveness of Skinoren cream varies from person to person and depends on the severity of the acne. Most people experience improvement after 4 weeks of use. For optimal results, continue using the cream for up to 12 months, but avoid prolonged use beyond this timeframe.
Is Skinoren cream beneficial for the skin? Skinoren cream, containing azelaic acid, reduces sebum production by the sebaceous glands, thus limiting the growth of acne-causing bacteria. By reducing bacterial numbers, skin inflammation decreases, allowing for healing. Ensure the cream doesn't contact sensitive areas like eyes or mouth; if it does, rinse with cool water.
How should I apply Skinoren cream? Before application, cleanse your face with a mild skin cleanser and dry it thoroughly. Apply Skinoren cream to affected areas twice daily, covering the entire affected area, not just individual spots. If initial use causes irritation, reduce frequency to once daily until irritation subsides, then resume twice daily use gradually.
Can I use other acne treatments alongside Skinoren cream? Combining Skinoren with oral antibiotic acne treatments is acceptable, but avoid using other acne creams concurrently to prevent skin dryness or irritation.
I'm experiencing redness and irritation after using Skinoren cream. Is this normal? Redness and irritation may occur initially but usually resolve within a week. If irritation persists, reduce application frequency to once daily until your skin adjusts, then gradually increase back to twice daily.
