What if my exemption doesn't have an expiry date?

If you don't pay for your NHS prescriptions, you may be issued with proof of the exemption. Some of these reasons are time-limited. However, for some there is no expiry date. If this is the case, you'll receive a notification on your account, but we'll still honour your exemption until advised otherwise. It is your responsibility to inform us of any change of circumstances.

NHS penalty fines

The NHS carry out checks on the exemption status of patients. Anyone found to be claiming free prescriptions falsely, could be liable for a penalty fine. To learn more about your responsibilities regarding paying for NHS prescriptions, click here.
