Fybogel contains the active ingredient Ispaghula Husk, a kind of medicine known as a bulk-forming agent. Fybogel is a natural plant extract which helps to relieve constipation and helps to maintain regularity.

Fybogel is ideal for those people needing to increase fibre within their diets. Ispaghula husk can also be used for people who suffer from piles (haemorrhoids), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or ulcerative colitis.

Fybogel (Ispaghula Husk) swells when it absorbs water in the body thus regulating bowel movement. It also softens the stools making them pass through the bowel easier thus reducing straining. In addition, it is also used to treat moderately raised cholesterol levels by preventing bile acid from being absorbed from the gut into the blood.

Fybogel is available in granules and can be diluted in water. Fybogel can be purchased in sachets; orange, lemon or natural flavour.

During our lives, we will at all some time or another suffer from constipation and require a form of laxative. The risk of constipation can be increased if you do not eat enough fibre, change your eating habits, are dehydrated, depressed or certain medication can cause constipation. Constipation can also be caused by lack of mobility and exercise, too much calcium and certain cancers. If you suffer from constipation regularly you should speak with your doctor.
