Yasmin is a combined oral contraceptive pill, designed to stop you getting pregnant. Combined oral contraceptives contain two types of female hormones, oestrogen and progestogen. If you use Yasmin in line with the instructions you are very unlikely to become pregnant. Remember, combined oral contraceptive pills like Yasmin will not protect you against sexually transmitted disease.

After taking your first pill, take one pill each day. Follow the arrows on the foil, until you have finished all 21 pills in the pack. You should try to take the pill the same time every day. Swallow each pill whole, with water if necessary. Do not chew the piil. After you have taken 21 pills in the pack, you have seven days when you take no pills. A few days after you have taken the last pill from each pack, you will have a period. This period may not have finished before you start your next pack of pills. You will not have to use an extra method of contraception during the seven day break from taking the pill, as long as you have taken your pills correctly and start the next pack of pills on time.
Each tablet contains 3mg Drospirenone, Ethinylestradiol 30 micrograms, Each tablet also contains lactose monomhydrate.
You should not take Yasmin if you have any of the following conditions listed. Tell your doctor if you have ever had a disorder affecting your blood circulation, you have ever had a heart attack or angina, a stroke, if you have diabetes, if you have had high blood pressure, if you have blood fat disorders, you have liver disease, you have kidney disease, you have liver tumors, you have breast cancer, if you have unusual bleeding, if you suffer from migraines, if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, or if you think you are pregnant.
