Body mass index (BMI) is a way of assessing whether someone is underweight, overweight, or obese. It can be calculated using your weight, and your height; take your weight (in kilograms), and divide it by your height (in metres) multiplied by itself - ie. weight, divided by height squared. There's a BMI calculator on our website.
- Under 18.5 = Underweight
- 18.5 to 24.9 = Normal
- 25 to 29.9 = Overweight
- 30+ = Obese
