The role of saliva: Saliva plays a critical role in the maintenance of oral and dental health. It is a complex fluid made up of secretions from the salivary glands which help in cleansing the mouth, breaking down food, lubricating surfaces within the mouth, protecting teeth and gums as well as helping us to taste, swallow and digest our food. Saliva is also vital in allowing us to talk. Any change in saliva flow can upset the delicate balance that normally exists in the mouth and leave the mouth feeling dry. The slow dissolving pastilles contain malic acid, a recognised ingredient that naturally stimulates saliva production in the mouth in the same way as food. The pastilles are sugar free and contain xylitol, which helps reduce plaque formation. Salivin is gluten and preservative free.
Recommended daily dose for adults and children over 12 years: One pastille to be sucked slowly as required. Up to a maximum of 15 per day.
