Care Clotrimazole cream is used to treat fungal infections such as athlete's foot, ringworm and fungal nappy rash. It can also be used to treat fungal infections in the breast fold (intertrigo) and infections associated with thrush such as irritation of the vagina (candidal vaginitis) or the end of the penis (candidal balanitis). Other uses of Clotrimazole cream include the treatment of fungal infections around the fingernails (paronychia), and certain other fungal skin infections (erythrasma and pityriasis). Clotrimazole is one of a group of medicines known as Imidazoles. Medicines of this group are used to treat skin infections caused by several types of fungi.
Apply the cream to the affected area of skin two or three times daily for at least two weeks. In some cases, however, Clotrimazole cream needs to be applied for more than four weeks.
Clotrimazole cream B.R 1% w/w (Clotrimazole cream) is a cream containing Clotrimazole 1% B.R as the active substance. Clotrimazole cream also contains sorbitan monostearate, polysorbate 60, cetyl esters wax, stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, 2-octyldodeoanol, benzyl alcohol and water.
Clotrimazole cream should not be used in people who have had an allergic reaction to Clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of Clotrimazole cream (listed above). Clotrimazole cream should not be used during pregnancy or breast-feeding without consulting a doctor. You should make sure that you carefully read all product packaging and labels prior to use.
A few people experience slight burning or irritation after using Clotrimazole cream. If you cannot tolerate this, stop treatment and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
If your symptoms get worse or you react badly to Clotrimazole cream, stop treatment immediately and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
